About Me

Qui est Becca?

I am 23 years old and a recent graduate of Western Michigan University. I have a Bachelors degree in French and English for Secondary Education and am certified to teach in the state of Michigan. After college, I have worked as a part-time French instructor at the university level as well as a long-term substitute at the middle and high school level. I fell in love with France and the language when I traveled to Paris after my senior year of high school and decided to pursue it as my major in college. This passion continued when I studied abroad during the Summer of 2011 in Aix-en-Provence. I knew that I had to return at some point in my life: to visit, to live or to work, I had to experience this rich culture again. I applied in the Fall of 2012 to be an English Teaching Assistant in France through TAPIF and in April 2013 I was blessed with the news that I would be returning to France for the 2013-2014 school year! In May 2013, I learned that I will be living and teaching in Apt, a small hillside village in the Aix-Marseille academie.

Outside of my French life, I also love color guard, I have performed and instructed within the activity for the past 10 years. When I am not working or living within the color guard world, I love to travel, bake, read, sing, take pictures, and spend time with friends and family. People say that I am a very driven and hard-working person but that I am also fun-loving, enthusiastic and passionate.

I hope you enjoy reading about my experiences during my year abroad!
